Why Attend the Annual Meeting?

The credit union’s Annual Meeting is a huge part of what makes credit unions different from banks. Its where the membership gets to choose the volunteer Board of Directors for the credit union. By attending the Annual Meeting, members will hear a variety of reports pertaining to the credit union, as well as what the credit union leadership has planned for the year.

In accordance with our by-laws, to be a bona fide member of the credit union - which entitles you to vote at the annual meeting - you must have your own $5.00 share in a share (savings) account. Someone who is joint on the account is not a bona fide member unless they have their own share (savings) account. Any bona fide member that attends the Virtual Annual Meeting will be entered for a chance to win one of several gift cards.

The 2020 Nominees for Board of Directors

There are two (2) incumbents running unopposed and each now will serve for another three (3) year term:

Joseph P. Armenia Jr. - Co-founder and partner of Morgan & Armenia, Certified Public Accountants, and Consultants, which specializes in individual, estate, and gift, and closely held business accounting and taxation. He is co-founder and member of Genesis business valuation and planning LLC, which specializes in business valuations and succession planning. He is a certified public accountant, chartered global management accountant, certified specialist in estate planning, certified business manager, and a certified divorce financial analyst. Joseph has a Master of Science degree in Taxation. Joseph has served on the Board of Directors since 2011 and has been a member of the credit union for over 10 years.

Barbara Ciepiela - Graduating from SUNY at Buffalo with a BS in Business Education, Barb became a Business Teacher at Sweet Home High School in 1971. She organized and chartered a chapter of Future Business Leaders of America at Sweet Home in 1986 and received a mini grant in 1991 to start a school store, operated by the FBLA. She also taught computer classes through continuing education. Barb joined the Credit Union in the fall of 1971 and has been secretary of the SHFCU since December of 2013.
