Why Attend the Annual Meeting?

The credit union’s Annual Meeting is a huge part of what makes credit unions different from banks. Its where the membership gets to choose the volunteer Board of Directors for the credit union. By attending the Annual Meeting, members will hear a variety of reports pertaining to the credit union, as well as what the credit union leadership has planned for the year.

In accordance with our by-laws, to be a bona fide member of the credit union - which entitles you to vote at the annual meeting - you must have your own $5.00 share in a share (savings) account. Someone who is joint on the account is not a bona fide member unless they have their own share (savings) account. Any bona fide member that attends the Virtual Annual Meeting will be entered for a chance to win one of several gift cards.

The 2022 Nominees for Board of Directors

The agenda for the Annual Meeting will include the election of directors. There are three (3) positions open for appointment to the Board of Directors with a three (3) year term. If you are interested in running for these positions, please contact the Credit Union.

The Nominating Committee has met and submitted the following nominations:

Edward R. Cavan - Since 1976, Ed has been actively involved in the insurance business culminating in him co-founding an agency in 1984 where they serve the Western New York Community with personal lines insurance coverage and insurance for small businesses. Ed graduated with a BA in Political Science from UB in 1975 and earned his CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) from the American College in 1986. He has served on the Sweet Home BOE as well as the Erie 1 BOCES Board, where he is the vice-president. He is a former President of the Willow Ridge Civic association where he resides with his wife Veronica, a retired teacher. Ed currently serves as vice-president of the credit union board and would appreciate your support for re-election.

John Radens - John was appointed to the Board of Directors in July of 2007 to fill a vacancy. He has been a member of the Credit Union since 1990. Prior to being appointed to the Board, John served on the Supervisory Committee for 3 years.

Linda Reimer - Linda started her career with the Sweet Home CSD in 1969 and left for one year to teach in Indianapolis. She returned to SHCSD in 1970 to finish her professional career as a Junior High/Middle School Math teacher. She retired after 34 years of teaching. Her commitment to the SHFCU is steadfast. Her mission is to see that SHFCU upholds the policies that put members financial interests first. Linda has served on the BOD for 5 years and would appreciate your vote.

Additional nominations may be made by a petition signed by at least 1%, or 27 Credit Union members. There will be no nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting. Petition forms are available in the credit union office. Nominations by petition must be returned by Monday, April 25, 2022.
